Job Summary

The Information Technology Security Officer performs professionals responsible for the installation of solutions to secure and maintain systems for the United States Bankruptcy Court, EDNY. The position involves maintenance duties as well as planning and implementing solutions. The incumbent reports to the Systems Manager.
Representative Duties

Linux Training
  • Provide technical support in the areas of vulnerability assessment, risk assessment, net¬work security, product evaluation, and security implementation
  • Responsible for designing and implementing solutions for protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of sensitive information
  • Participate in design of information system contingency plans that maintain appropriate levels of protection and meet time requirements for minimizing operations impact to cus¬tomer organization
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of local court unit security policies and guid¬ance, the remediation of identified risks, and the implementation of security measures
  • Conduct security product evaluations, and recommends products, technologies and up¬grades to improve the customer’s security posture
  • Conduct testing and audit log reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of current security measures
  • Provide security analysis of IT activities to ensure that appropriate security measures are in place and enforced
  • Establish mechanisms to promote awareness and adoption of security best practices
  • Perform other related duties or special projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Three or more years of experience in Information or Cyber Security or Network/Server Engineering in a medium to large size organization. Experience must include familiarity with applicable information security practices. Experience must have occurred within the past five years
  • Three years of functional experience must have included securing and evaluating infor¬mation management systems, security design, development, test and evaluation tasks and duties specified in SOW and must have occurred in the last five years
  • Knowledge of and experience with the following software platforms: Splunk Log Management, IDS/IPS, Patch Management; and Vulnerability Scanning
  • Knowledge of and experience with anti-virus, anti-malware, application control, web threat protection and endpoint security controls
  • Knowledge of and experience with enterprise level firewalls

Preferred Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited educational institution in an IT or IT related major
  • Applicants with certification in one or more of the following: Security+, CISSP, CISA and CISM
